      Entered Starfleet at age 17, Gianelli has the somewhat dubious distinction of having graduated Starfleet Academy with more demerits than any other graduating cadet in history. She graduated with honours, however, from Starfleet Security School.
      She came close to Court Martial once, but the charges of striking a superior officer were subsequently dropped. There have been rumours and speculation that she may have a black market business on the side, but no charges have ever been filed.
      Her husband, Sakanek, has been reported missing and presumed dead. (His ship, the USS PEGASUS, was taken by Klingons.) Her brother Salvatore is a wanted anti-Federation terrorist.
      She is a fair-minded, but hot-tempered individual who has consistently put the safety of her command before that of herself.
